Occupational Health, Safety & Welfare Policy

Xceptional People Pty Ltd acknowledges its legal obligation to provide a safe and healthy work environment for its employees in accordance with the Acts and Regulations governing Occupational Health Safety & Welfare. Xceptional People has an appointed Responsible Officer. Xceptional People undertakes to adopt all reasonable steps to reduce and eliminate risks in the workplace, and will integrate health and safety issues into all operational functions.

Xceptional People’s Responsibilities

As the Employer, and as far as is reasonably practicable, Xceptional People will:

  • Provide and maintain a safe work environment (plant, machinery, equipment and premises);
  • Maintain safe work practices and systems;
  • Inform, instruct, train and supervise staff to ensure each employee is aware of hazards in the workplace and can take responsibility for their health and personal safety;
  • Investigate all work-related incident, injury or illness involving our employees and maintain accurate records;
  • Inspect client work sites to ascertain if it is a safe and healthy environment for our temporary employees, advise our clients of any concerns, and seek prompt remedial action;
  • Ensure that the OHS&W policies and procedures of our clients are made available to our temporary employees (and our consultants), and that our temporary employees are inducted in those policies and procedures before commencing their assigned duties;
  • Ensure that our clients are made aware of the OHS&W policies and procedures of Xceptional People; and
  • Offer effective procedure for reporting, recording and investigating identified hazards.


Client Responsibilities

It is the responsibility of Xceptional People’s clients to:

  • Provide and maintain a safe work environment (plant, machinery, equipment and premises);
  • Maintain safe work practices and systems;
  • Inform, instruct, train and supervise our temporary employees to ensure they are aware of hazards in the workplace;
  • Inform our temporary employee of evacuation procedures, First Aid and OHS&W Officer/s;
  • Where our temporary employee is performing an unsafe act, have them cease work immediately and notify Xceptional People; and
  • Notify Xceptional People immediately of any near miss or injury concerning our temporary employee.

Employee Responsibilities

Safety in the workplace is not just the responsibility of the employer. Under the Occupational Health, Safety & Welfare Act, 1986, on-hire employees also have a legal obligation to:

  • Follow Xceptional People’s OHS&W policies and procedures for eliminating risk in the workplace;
  • In the case of temporary employees, to follow the OHS&W policies and procedures of clients to whom they have been assigned;
  • Obtain information relating to the client’s evacuation procedures, First Aid and OHS&W Officer/s;
  • Keep their work area tidy and free from hazards or potential hazards;
  • Ensure their work is performed safely without risk to themselves or their colleagues;
  • Report (potential) hazards to their on-site supervisor and to advise Xceptional People immediately;
  • Assume responsibility for their own health and safety at work, cease any unsafe work which may cause immediate harm and report any OHS&W incident or accident immediately to Xceptional People; and
  • Obey instructions issued for their personal health and safety and/or for that of their colleagues.
